Kindergarten in Philippi

One project that is very close to our hearts is the kindergarten in Philippi. To make the long story short it is a Kindergarten that a few of the African Sunrise team was part of raising money for and build in 2015. We try to go there a few times a month and bring the most needed things; food, nappies and clothes.

The area is an informal settlement and have until today never had electricity and have only a few taps of water to share on thousands of people. Alcohol and Drug problems are very common and many children are orphaned. The need of a Kindergarten is huge, to be sure that the children are getting prepared for school as it is very common that children drop out of school at an early age because of lack of support and preparation at home.

For Christmas 2018 a friend of ours in Sweden raised about R 10 000 from his friends and family and we could get the kindergarten a new gas stove, lots of food and also make sure the staff could get paid for the very important job they do.

Anyone coming to Cape Town through us can come with us to visit the Kindergarten to get a better understanding of the problems the people in these areas have to face on a daily basis. We welcome any kind of help or support that anyone can offer and for the children it is also important to see that there are people out there that care about and believe in them.
